Job Description
Working as a member of our Manufacturing team, the Mechanical Assembly Technician will be responsible for various assembly- and testing processes associated with constructing flywheel energy storage equipment.
The Mechanical Assembly Technician will work on a wide range of components and subassemblies, ranging from ½ lbs to 10T. A variety of work will be assigned, including, but not limited to: inspection, electrical testing, mechanical testing, main assembly, sub-assembly, shrink fitting, and part modification.
Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assembly of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components and systems
  • Follow blueprints, drawings or diagrams in order to assemble and test products
  • Perform in-process QA/QC test procedures and record results
  • Receive and inspect incoming parts and deliveries
  • Document and assist in resolving product/process issues
  • Use hand tools, power tools, or precision instruments to test equipment
  • Operate forklift and crane to move parts around shop
  • Maintain cleanliness in work area and adhere to occupational health and safety standards
  • Package equipment for shipping and assist in the receiving of product to the facility
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:
Education or Designations:
High school diploma with technical and mechanical experience and/or completion of a college vocational or technical training program
Knowledge & Experience:
Minimum 2+ years related experience
Skills & Attributes:
1. Strong work ethic, high degree of enthusiasm
2. Experience in product manufacturing environments
3. Understanding of mechanical and electrical product assembly
4. Experience with manufacturing processes and procedures (BOMs, work orders, MRP/ERP, etc.)
5. Able to read, interpret and follow procedures for mechanical/electrical design drawings
6. Experience with overhead crane and forklift operation an asset.
7. Attention to detail and a high regard for product quality
8. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
9. Able to work as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision
10. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and challenges
11. Understands and follows all safety requirements
